Job Description:

Baker Electric is looking for a Project Engineer. This person will be responsible for coordinating and creating the initial design and final design of solar projects to ensure that prescribed activities are documented in accordance with Baker Electric Home Energy's specified objectives for the successful permitting, procurement, and completion of the project. Utilizing technical knowledge, the Project Engineer I will perform basic electrical designs and partner closely with the Sr. PE and Engineering Manager. Responsible for ensuring drawings and designs are completed on time and adhere to the established specifications and standards. Responsible for solar project engineering, in addition to coordinating project implementation with existing operations and project management department. The packages will consist of electrical, structural and layout design work that follows building and electrical codes as well as jurisdictional requirements for permitting. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned. ---Prepare conceptual design for solar projects including selection of major components, equipment layouts and single-line diagram ---Participate in all stages of project design including, conceptual and advanced system design observing regulatory codes requirements ---Basic analyze and simulate PV project energy production; Perform energy generation modeling for solar projects using computer aided tools and software. ---Under direction of the Sr. Project Engineer and Engineering Manager assist in maintaining design and proposal requirements, apply knowledge of codes and standards, design procedures, methods, and process, improve efficiency of project development ---Apply local jurisdictional requirements to the design of solar and Energy Storage Systems ---Familiarity and basic understanding of NEC and CFC codes applicable portions and apply them to project engineering. ---Perform basic electrical calculations to size equipment, cables, conduits, etc. ---Function in a multi-discipline project team environment to deliver quality design projects and technical reports on assigned projects ---Site-specific production analysis of PV arrays using existing industry models ---Perform occasional site visits to determine electrical interconnection plan, design constraints and project scope ---Assist with day to day operations and/or other duties as assigned EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: ---Bachelor of Science, or Associates degree in Engineering or a related industry (Construction Management, Renewable Energy, Environmental Engineering) discipline is preferred. ---1+ years design experience in construction, utilities, solar or relevant industry required. Job Requirements:TECHNICAL SKILLS:---Capability for navigating, interpreting, and applying code requirements---Effective task management---Familiarity with NEC and local code---Basic knowledge of power systems BEHAVIORAL SKILLS:---Excellent written and verbal communication---Excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize and complete a variety of simultaneous tasks requiredPHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stoop, reach, stand, walk, lift, pull, push, grasp, climb, talk, hear, see and use complex repetitive motions.
